Senior Eye Health Concerns

Will I develop cataracts?

Everyone will develop cataracts if they live long enough—the question is when. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye. Symptoms of cataracts include blurry vision, haze and glare. It may be difficult to read small print or see the television. Cataracts also may cause you to experience glare from headlights when driving at night or cause discomfort when driving into the setting sun.

What about glaucoma?

Glaucoma, a condition where the optic nerve progressively deteriorates, affects an estimated 3 million Americans. Glaucoma is called the "thief of sight" since patients typically don't have symptoms until vision loss is quite advanced. Some risk factors include a family history of glaucoma, African-American race, age, diabetes, and prolonged oral or inhaled steroid use.

We offer state-of-the art equipment to help detect glaucoma early and treatments to prevent vision loss. Click here to find out how we can help.
